We literally are what we eat!
It’s really important to understand this concept. Understand why we must put certain things in our mouth in certain forms in certain amounts. We are not just a machine where any calories can go in with the same expectation that calories will be used to do what they need to do.
Would you put diesel fuel in your Lamborghini? Would you wait 15,000 miles before changing the oil in your awesome Lamborghini? Why is our body not as important as a Lamborghini? I bet if we treated it like a high priced sports car we would feel a HECK of a lot better!
Understanding that food become the structures of our body is an important concept that I want to cover because this can give us more knowledge about what choices to make when deciding what to eat. What we eat will be broken down by the body into usable parts, well as usable as possible depending on what we try giving it.
If we decide to consume all of our nutrients from packaged options, well the nutrients are deficient, so guess what…..Your body structure will be deficient. It’s really as simple as that. If you make choices that reflect strong building blocks it becomes a no brainer as to which foods to put in the body. If you want lots of antioxidant help, lots of immune boosting phytonutrients, heaping amounts of essential amino acids and minerals, look no further than a living plant based diet. Nothing from an animal can make these claims!
Let’s break this down a bit a look at the healthy characteristics of quality food choices…….
What are you? Are you a bag of greasy chips, a hamburger, or a vibrant crispy apple? Everything we eat – the good and the bad – is used by our body to fuel, repair and rebuild itself. Instead of reaching for those cookies, why not grab a piece of fruit? You will build a better, healthier you.
The quality and type of food and drink we consume has a great impact on our well-being. The nutrients they contain are the building blocks of our body, providing energy and material for our cells to rebuild. The food we eat even affects our emotional well-being. Would you rather have a body built from a poor diet, or one that is fed with vibrant, health-giving nutritious food?
Much of what we eat is over-processed and no longer contains nutrients – bleached white bread, packaged foods that are full of sodium and harmful fats, fruit juice made from concentrate with added corn syrups, colorings, and flavorings. When we consume food that has been stripped of its goodness, we are robbing our body of nutrients, leaving us bloated and lethargic rather than fueled and full of energy. These kinds of food choices are a poor foundation for the body to build and repair itself.
That is why the food you eat should be as close as possible to its natural state; organic, whole and raw. Instead of a sandwich, have a big, green salad. Don’t snack on those crackers. Grab an orange instead. You will quickly feel the benefits of a nutrient-rich diet: more energy, glowing skin and a brighter outlook on life!
The quality of the food we consume is central to our health. Our body is continually regenerating itself as individual cells die and are renewed. Every cell and tissue in our body is built, repaired and fueled from the foods, fluids, and yes, toxins, which we consume.
Is our food natural?
Most commercially available foods today are grown in the presence of chemical poisons. Vegetables are sprayed with pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. Intensively farmed, depleted soils are treated with NPK fertilizers but remain nutritionally void, as are the plants grown in them. Animals are fed antibiotics to prevent illness and growth hormones to speed their development. Our food is then processed, stripping much of its nutritional content. It may be bleached. Colors and flavorings are added. It is sealed in plastic and may be frozen. This is the food on which many of us survive. Barely!
Our choices affect us at a cellular level
These poisoned, nutrient-deficient foods, if part of your diet, are the building blocks of the person you are today. The poisons contained within them damage our cells and DNA. The long-term consumption of these foods is a central contributor to the lifestyle diseases from which many people in developed countries are now suffering. Take heart! It only takes 7 years to completely rebuild all of your bodies structures so you can make the change to healthy foods and rebuild a completely healthy structure.
Choose wisely for better health
Human beings have an amazing capacity to survive. Our entire physiology is designed to preserve life as a priority. It is the length and quality of our life, daily energy, mental clarity, productivity, emotional stability and absence of pain we can influence by making positive choices.
Choose nutrient-rich organics
Organic foods are grown in naturally fertilized, composted and mineralized soils to which no poisons have been introduced. The goodness in these soils provides nutrients which growing fruits, vegetables and grains absorb and pass on to those who eat them. These minerals and the vitamins and phytonutrients synthesized in their presence enhance flavor and provide the basis for healthy cellular renewal, growth, energy and repair. These are the foods on which we have evolved to thrive, not merely
Eat fresh whole foods to maximize nutrients
Only unprocessed foods, such as whole grains, contain the full spectrum of nutrients which nature intended and our bodies require. A white bread, for example, may be organic but during processing much of its original goodness is removed. Avoid processed, pre-packaged foods in all their forms whether bottled, canned, boxed or bagged.
Eat raw for the enzymes
Enzymes are catalysts that boost the speed and efficiency of all chemical processes including digestion. Fresh, whole and, importantly, raw organic foods contain the specific enzymes needed to provide the greatest amount of nutrients to our body with the minimum of digestive energy. This preserves our energy for the important tasks of repair and renewal. Note that all enzymes are destroyed above 118 F (48 C). Cooking depletes them, robbing us of their revitalizing properties.
Eat a high quality diet of organic, whole and largely raw foods, providing the best nutrients to rebuild your body and enhance health and vitality on all levels.
